Occasionally when you log in to eLink it returns with an error saying that it cannot find the Portal page. If you receive this error you have logged in as far as the server is concerned but you can't actually access any part of eLink. Generally this is caused by something blocking the eLink session cookie. You can confirm this by downloading an alternative browser such as Firefox and attempting to login that way, if it works in Firefox then the cause is probably fixable using one of the methods below:
The first thing to try is to verify that the eLink server is in the trusted sites (internet explorer security settings) and that cookies are allowed (internet explorer privacy settings). Next, empty IE temporary files and cookies cache as well. Finally, if neither of these work, it is worth checking that the date on your computer is set correctly. I had a user this morning whose computer date and time was set a month ahead, as soon as we had changed that to the correct time and date eLink worked correctly.

When launching a document template from within the SFA (Sales Force Administration) module of eLink you might get the following error message:
Complete error message: Exception - Cannot show the specified record! It may have been deleted or you may not have the proper access rights to view this information. ESchemaKeyNotFound in Node 8 "elink:edit" of SOAP request at Line:48, Char:27. Continue execution?
When continuing the execution you document template may not have all the eLink fields correctly shown and your document folder will not be linked to your sales opportunity neither to the product(s) of your sales opportunity.
Solution: This error typically occurs when your template is linked to a project that no longer exists (or whereto the user has no - or no longer - access). You'll have to go to the document templates screen and in your wizard (step 4) you will have to specify an existing project (you might find edProject when your old project was deleted).
Good luck!

This error can occur when using Word 2007 on the server to convert documents to pdfs.
It is caused by a security issue ie the pdf conversion works with standard server admin logon but not with the Com+ user (which is a local admin !).
The solution is to log on to the server as the COM+ user and install word 2007. If this does not work then configure DCOM MS word security parameter - see KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/288368.

We are very pleased with the 2008 presentation of eLink Advantage - real benefits, real savings and an increased pace: 1. The ‘My eLink’ dashboard, the first option you will see, has four smart panels, one each containing today’s diary, actions, most recent contacts and companies, plus scroll-down to the company sales performance, altogether on one screen
2. On all contacts and companies, the ‘recent’ dashboard of actions, documents, projects, sales opportunities, emails and helpdesk cases – brilliant, as you can have everything at your finger-tips
3. Navigator bar / strip on screen at all times so that you move from one view to another seamlessly, saving time and making the operation easier
4. The Search bar is also on screen at all times. The ability to search on and into ‘attachments’, plus a much improved presentation of the search results which it is easier to find any ‘missing’ document
5. Partially refreshing a screen rather than a complete screen refresh, leads to faster use
6. More than one parent project can link to the same sub-project. Also for products and gives easier filing and indexing structures.
7. Added a ‘To-Do-List’ to each Sales Opportunity, for instant action and / or review, giving you more pro-active management information
8. Longer lists of the ‘most recent’ actions, documents etc, twenty rather than ten, which makes it easier to get back to something you were working on earlier
9. Improved display of actions in projects, with subject line in bold, thus showing the flow of actions more easily and helping comprehension
10. New option to convert an action into a sales opportunity and to transfer all the hyperlinks into the new record, excellent
11. Added a new facility for ‘Quick Documents’ as previously seen in Sales Opportunity Manager
12. We like the colours, font and the way 'eLink Yoolaa' fields are shown. Cliff Jenkins, www.yoolaa.co.uk

I was doing a presentation and was asked to try it through a Citrix Server using the prospect's own computer and login to their Citrix server and then out via IE 7 to our own server.
The result was one of the fastest links I ever seen, the eLink 2008 looks superb and the integration with the prospects own MSWord set-up (under Citrix) worked an absolute treat.
If anyone needs to do it, I can get the information for you. Cheers Cliff

We had too many contacts, owned by me in our eLink system, for any easy update to my PDA. So we set a rule in Outlook to look at my diary entries for the last twelve months and the next three months and to pull only the contacts linked to those actions. Then it was easy.
This means that my contact list is always up-to-date and is being cleaned automatically.

We use Antenna 2.7 as our website tool (content management software) and whilst we do need a copy of the Anteena software on whichever is used, the datafile stays in eLink.
This means that the file is always safe, we have Version Control on amendments and revisions, and we can pass the activity from one person to another very rapidly.
